Biopratiq was founded on the belief that the skin is a system and that the science needed to read it accurately must work equally for every human, regardless of skin tone, geography, or access to specialist care.

The Founder

From Nairobi to the Oxford Golden Triangle

Charles Okayo D'Harrington MRSB was born in Nairobi, Kenya. His scientific career spans two continents and two disciplines the rigour of GxP regulated clinical manufacturing in the UK, and a foundational understanding of biological systems rooted in food science and biotechnology.

His most significant early contribution came during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he played a direct role in the batch release of 100 million AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccine doses one of the largest and most consequential manufacturing operations in modern pharmaceutical history. That experience shaped his understanding of what it means to build systems that scale without failing, and what it costs when they do.

"Scale is not just a logistics problem it is a science problem. You cannot scale what you have not understood at the molecular level."

Alongside vaccine work, Charles architected high throughput molecular diagnostic platforms from ground zero designing the laboratory systems, operational protocols, and quality frameworks required to process clinical samples at volume within Oxford's tightly regulated research and manufacturing ecosystem.

It was in this environment working at the intersection of precision science, regulatory compliance, and access inequality that the idea for Biopratiq took shape. The best diagnostic tools in the world are built in well-resourced institutions and validated on data that does not represent the majority of the global population. Charles founded Biopratiq to address that structural gap directly, combining clinical rigour with a commitment to mathematical equity.
